Core CPD: boys and young men
Working Therapeutically with Boys and Young Men
Masculinity, Shame, Anger and Emotional Development
2.5 hours · £195 individual fee · Booking opens soon
What might you need to understand before choosing your response? Core takes that question into practice, using examples to explore how boys and young men may show, mask or communicate their experience through behaviour.
Make room for another interpretation
Explore shame, anger and belonging alongside strengths such as care, courage and responsibility. Consider what different explanations might mean for your response, while keeping impact, boundaries and accountability in view.
Core offers more time for application than Intro, with space to identify a possible shift in your own work. It develops reflective judgement rather than prescribing a fixed response to every situation.
What you will explore
• Masculinity, pressure and belonging: holding strengths and difficulties together.
• Shame, anger and emotional development: what behaviour might communicate or protect.
• Practice snapshots: considering different interpretations before responding.
• Responsibility, boundaries and repair: understanding without excusing harm.
• Relationships and online influence: their relevance to your work.
Who it is for
Therapists, counsellors, youth practitioners, pastoral staff and university wellbeing staff supporting boys and young men. You can join Core directly; Intro is not a prerequisite.
Fee and progression credit
Receive a £50 progression credit after Intro, bringing the £195 Core fee to £145. If you continue to Full-Day, receive a £195 credit towards its £595 fee, bringing the amount payable to £400. You can also join Core directly for £195.
